It's Official

Last Friday, we officially inducted our first class of On the Road Collaborative students! Our mission is to “empower young people to fulfill their promise” and one big way we do that is create a strong sense of community that is grounded in relationships and our core values of kindness, cooperation, focused effort, perseverance and courage.

To celebrate the commitment that each of these young people is making to their education and their future, we spent the afternoon together: eating Domino’s pizza, handing out their legit On the Road t-shirt and roller skating at Funky’s Skate Center. It was an afternoon to remember!

Several students shared about their experience with On the Road so far:

“On the Road has been fun. I get to do my homework and I get bored at home. I like my shirt because everybody has the same shirt and I like being a student for On the Road. Funky’s was fun too!” -Johan

“I like to learn about jobs and what I want to be when I grow up. I like the shirt because now I know I’m On the Road and I liked Funky’s because I was with my friends and had fun.” -Ja’Niya

Here’s to a year of community, opportunity, empowerment and being on the road together!
